The story of FlowStop begins with a simple observation: frequent floods wreak havoc on many vulnerable communities. Traditional protection methods are often expensive, complex, and ineffective against unpredictable climate events.

A simple idea and effective idea

Driven by the desire to offer a truly accessible solution, Olivier Guillou launched the development of a flexible, adaptable, and high-performance flood barrier in 2019. After several years of research, development, and self-financing, FlowStop was born in 2021: a custom inflatable barrier designed to be easy to install, reusable, and adaptable to all openings.

The goal? To enable individuals and businesses to effectively protect their properties from flooding.

A solution adopted internationally

Today, FlowStop meets the needs of individuals, businesses, and local authorities in France, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Supported by numerous insurance companies, FlowStop has become a leading reference in flood prevention. With a production capacity of 150 units per day, the company is growing rapidly.

FlowStop has received several prestigious awards, including the Prime Minister’s Prize at the 2023 Lépine Competition, as well as the titles of French Assurtech and Greentech laureate in 2024.

The founders

Olivier Guillou

Olivier is an inventor and entrepreneur who came up with the idea for FlowStop in 2019. He spent several years developing and refining the concept of an inflatable flood barrier. In 2021, he partnered with Bertrand, and together they co-founded FlowStop, turning the idea into a groundbreaking solution for flood protection.

Bertrand Sylvestre-Boncheval

Bertrand is a seasoned entrepreneur with a proven track record of building successful businesses. He launched his first company while studying at HEC Paris, founding PayinTech, which was successfully acquired in 2021. In 2022, Bertrand joined FlowStop, bringing his entrepreneurial expertise to drive innovation and growth in flood protection solutions.

Thanks to its unique inflatable design, FlowStop allows for quick and easy installation on all openings: doors, windows, garages, without the need for tools or heavy equipment. Lightweight and maneuverable, the barriers inflate to form a watertight seal, effectively blocking water. Once the threat has passed, they deflate and can be easily stored.
